1.Hello
Patty, first off thank you for doing the interview with
us, how was your holiday in the Maldives?
Everyday was a new dream! Just perfect!
2.Do you feel that 2004 was a year of improvement?
Yes, the beginning with the semis of the Australian Open
was awesome. Without some injuries my year end ranking
would have been even better! My tennis has improved and is
still.....
3.What things are you working on now for 2005?
Returns and a lot of gameplays, match situations suited
for my game. Physical work to be as healthy as possible.
4.What are your aims for 2005?
Grand slam title, top ten ranking
5.In the last few days you have released your 2005
schedule and there were a few surprises, for example you
are playing Tokyo, Dubai and Doha - tournaments you don't
normally play instead of tournaments you do like Paris and
Antwerp, what was the reason for this?
My record in Paris is very bad. Easier to plan some
resting weeks. After so many years I like new tournaments
new challenges.
6.As you are aware Barbara Schett is retiring after the
Australian Open next year - do you have plans on having a
regular doubles partner for next year or are you just
going to take it from tournament to tournament?
Of course I`m sad that she is retiring, but I`m happy
about my doubles ranking. I try to play fewer
tournaments in doubles and be more fresh for singles.
7.Are you going to be playing Fed Cup in 2005?
No, I retired from the swiss fed-cup team in june `04.
Many reasons for that!
8.What do you feel are the differences between the top
players now and 5 years ago?
Much larger density! There will be 5 players fighting for
the number one spot and probably 25 for top ten spots! The
game has gotten more powerful and players more consistent.
9.Out of all the current players (male and female) who
are your favourite players to watch?
I love to watch good and important match!!! Grand slam
finals specially |
