It’s always sweet when the past and the present meet. This time, the meeting has resulted into a wonderful collection. To tell the story from the beginning, one would have to go more than sixty years back. At that time, the members of the Vuitton family cut out wooden animal toys. Renée, the wife of the founder’s grandson, collected these handmade articles. In 1954, to honour his wife and her hobby, Gaston-Louis Vuitton dedicated the first floor of the newly-opened Louis Vuitton store to the toy collection.

In tribute to this part of history of the brand, Louis Vuitton decided to create a collection of small accessories, using the images of half a century old toys. The Animania Collection, as the company named it, includes monogram-clad coin purses, little clutches, bag charms and scarf squares. The coin purses feature four animals: squirrel in raspberry pink, rooster in art deco grey, songbird in Florentine pink and rabbit in love-apple color. As for the Louis Vuitton clutches from this collection, they have the form of the same animals, but are made in different colors – songbird in midnight blue and rooster in raspberry pink. Besides the small leather goods, the collection also includes square scarves in violet, red and coral colors, made from 100% silk.

Prices for these cute little accessories range from $220 (for the scarves) to $500 (for the coin purses). That’s a pretty tidy sum to pay for the articles that are this small, but LV has an army of fans with their pockets full of money that will surely not resist the temptation of buying them.
